On November 26 the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan met with the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Asylbek Zheenbekov during his working visit in Saint Petersburg.

Galust Sahakyan congratulated Asilbek Zheenbekov on the occasion of the election as Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament and expressed hope that during his tenure the parliamentary cooperation between Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Talking about the inter-parliamentary bilateral and multilateral cooperation, Galust Sahakyan highlighted the mutual support and cooperation at international platforms and considered necessary their activation. The RA NA Speaker touched upon the cooperation of the legislative bodies of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, particularly, talked about the EEU membership and deemed necessary to be united in the issues requiring legislative solutions.

Galust Sahakyan invited the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament to Armenia on an official visit: the invitation was gladly accepted.

The Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Asylbek Zheenbekov thanked his colleague for the meeting. He has documented that Kyrgyzstan and Armenia are brotherly states and has underlined the necessity and importance of the bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Speaking about the referendum of the Constitutional amendments being expected in Armenia, Asilbek Zheenbekov has noted that the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan will carry out observation mission during the referendum. The Head of the Kyrgyz Parliament highlighted the experience of Armenia, turning into the system of parliamentary government. He has informed that Kyrgyzstan also intends to make Constitutional amendments, having as a basis goal of turning into the system of parliamentary government.

The interlocutors highlighted the necessity of activation of cooperation of the two countries in different spheres. During the meeting details related to Asylbek Zheenbekov’s official visit to be paid to Armenia were also discussed.
